Advocate Teffo vows to fight on
The 356 docket demands that only the people who were present inside the Khumalo home on the night Senzo was shot and killed should be answering questions before a judge.

The outspoken defence council in the controversial Senzo Meyiwa murder trial at the Pretoria High Court, Advocate Malesela Daniel Teffo will have to produce something more convincing than just the damning and untested conjecture he has thrown around in court to prove his point and his client’s innocence.
He is currently in self-imposed legal limbo following his dramatic resignation as the legal representative of four of the five suspects charged with the murder of former Orlando Pirates soccer star.
And now that his dismissal from the case, which focuses on docket number 375, has been confirmed by the instructing attorney Timothy Thobane, it looks like it is going to be practically impossible for Teffo to prove the allegations he has levelled against Kelly Khumalo together with the guests who were present at her mother’s house on the night of October 14, 2014.
Yes, it looks rather impossible now for him to come up with something to absolve his four accused clients from the charges levelled against them for the murder.
This is unless Teffo can be able to convince the National Prosecuting Authority’s head Shamilla Batoi to dismiss the current trial at the Pretoria High Court and dismiss all charges against the five men accused of the murder of former Bafana-Bafana goalkeeper by pursuing docket 356.
The 356 docket demands that only the people who were present inside the Khumalo home on the night Senzo was shot and killed should be answering questions before a judge.
This is becoming an almost impossible task for the controversial Teffo to achieve unless docket 356 is presented and accepted by the court as the legitimate document through which the Meyiwa murder case should have been pursued.
Teffo believes that if his request to the NPA is approved, then the trial could soon feature new faces who are indicted for the murder of Meyiwa.
But according to a subsequent media statement attributed to Thobane, Teffo is no longer part of the legal defence team.
I’m just a journalist, but I would like to urge you to watch this space.
Good ol’ Teffo will have to come up with something more dramatic to restore his dented image in the eyes of thousands of television fans who until recently still hailed him as their hero for taking on the legal system.
During the brief stint it took the trial to get to this point, Teffo has been accused within his circle of peers and those in public (except for the few who continue to believe he is their hero) of the following;
· Being uncouth
· Lacking the decorum expected of a legal person of his calibre.
· Interrupted the judge during court proceedings
· Used foul language in court during proceedings
· Accused Judge Tshifiwu Maumela of witchcraft
And with calls for him to be removed from the Bar, there are also further calls asking if this will be the end of Teffo’s career.
“Not on your life,” says his ardent followers who strongly believe he should be left alone to continue as council for the defendants.
