Balfour Police opened an inquest after a fetus was found on Monday at the Balfour sewerage plant.
An employee of Balfour Municipality discovered the fetus that was trapped by a screen filter at around 09:00.
According to Constable Virginia Mavuso (spokesperson) the age and race of the fetus are still unknown. Forensic pathologists will examine it for further evidence. No arrests have been made.
