Captain Tshilate gets his man

Policeman spots suspect activity and catch two with copper cables.

Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate (spokesperson) of Heidelberg SAPS apprehended a Lesotho national with copper cables in his possession.

The captain noticed two suspicious looking men while they were offloading bags from a truck into a Volkswagen Golf on the R23 near Lagerspoort. He followed them for a distance and decided to pull them over. He found two bags filled with copper wires in the suspects’ vehicle and told them to lie face down so he could handcuff them.

While trying to handcuff the second suspect, he started to struggle and kicked the captain on one of his legs where he sustained an old bullet injury. Back-up arrived, but the second suspect managed to escape.

The Lesotho national appeared in Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court today on the charges of possession of suspected stolen copper cables.
