Join our sale at the old jail

Residents from Heidelberg and Nigel brought their unwanted goods to HERAUT’s first Car Boot Sale last month in what turned out to be a great outing for the bargain hunters out there.

 
From well-priced silver jewellery, to some very interesting paintings and general home ware, clothes and there definitely was something for everyone.

 
Bargain hunters had a field day as some of the car boot owners insisted that they would not take any of their unwanted items home and sold off whole lots of items for next to nothing.

 
The Suid-Afrikaanse Vroue Federasie (SAVF) used the Car Boot Sale to generate some much needed funds by baking pancakes, while the custodians of the Old Jail, the MOTHs, prepared hamburgers and hotdogs that were devoured by the dozen.

In some cases while the ladies did what they do best (gatherers love to shop) the men were treated to a tour of the historic building by Jackie Janse van Rensburg.

 
The good news is that on Saturday many of the Car Boot Sellers will be back and we can also confirm that the SAVF has expanded their operation to include secondhand clothing – thrift shop style.

 
Lesedi Care Centre manager Jaco Kritzinger also confirmed that his organisation will join the SAVF in this initiative to raise funds and that they might need more than a car boot to sell the truck-load of items they have for sale.
Items LCC will look to sell, ranges from household items like pots, pans, paintings and even some plants.
As most participants at the previous Car Boot Sale experienced, this unique market provides residents with an ideal opportunity to de-clutter their homes while earning a few extra rands at the same time.
