In his speech, Capt Tshilate said education is the key to all expected endeavours, as it increases knowledge, ability, and skills. His graduation also serves a purpose – to motive the youth, as he has set an example of what can be achieved, despite age or cultural background.

Capt Tshilate has been attending after-hour classes while he was also still nursing injuries after a motor vehicle accident he was involved in last year. Despite a fractured hip, he continued his studies and followed his dream of acquiring a higher qualification.

HERAUT also learned that Capt Tshilate holds a National Certificate in Policing, which he obtained through Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). He continued his tertiary studies through IQ Academy, and obtained a National Certificate in Marketing Management, whereafter he enrolled and successfully completed a course on computer studies at Siyafunda CTC.

“A dream is achieved through action, not by talking. I am therefore ready to continue my academic journey and motivated myself to register for a diploma in Public Relations next year,” he said.

Capt Tshilate urged the youth to consider tertiary studies and encouraged them to be serious about what they want to achieve. In the same breath, he discouraged the youth to become victims of peer pressure and end up abandoning school or further studies.
