New taxi rank now open

Heidelberg Mall recently opened a newly developed taxi rank, servicing Heidelberg and surrounding communities.

Over the last five months, the Entrance 5 parking area has been transformed into a functional taxi rank with quality facilities for the Heidelberg and District Taxi Association and commuters. The project commenced in July and was completed in November. T

he development included the new taxi rank, trader stalls, taxi association offices, and ablution facilities.

The new rank serves as Heidelberg’s commuter hub and provides commuters with improved access to Heidelberg Mall. Additionally, the Hawker facility provides an opportunity for local businesses and entrepreneurs to sell their products from established stands.

The official launch of the taxi rank and office facilities took place on 22 November and was attended by Lerato Maloka (Mayor of Lesedi), Mr. Jabulani Yika (Chairman: Heidelberg & District Taxi Association),  Heidelberg Mall centre management and the local community.

The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony, a performance by Lesedi Show Choir and a live radio broadcast by a local radio station.

The Heidelberg Mall taxi tank is fully operational and services areas including: Duduza; Jameson Park; Johannesburg; Nigel; Ratanda; Tsakane; Villiers and Vosloorus
