Katleho Seaga (LMM media liaison officer) confirmed this last week, saying the mayor received her test results on July 10, after undergoing the testing process.

“Another member of the mayoral committee – MMC Motsepe, also tested positive for Covid-19 and they will both be in self-isolation for two weeks,” Seaga said.

The municipality has advised anyone who has come into contact with the executive mayor to also go under self-quarantine as they too may be infected.

“We wish the mayor a speedy recovery and we are looking forward to her return to office, once she has recovered. The municipality continues to do all it can to protect staff members against the risk of contracting Covid-19,” Seaga concluded.
