Damduikers in action

Newly established Alrapark Damduikers Angling Club hooked the 'big one' when they were announced as winners at the Aqua Via Vaal River angling competition held on September 26.

Bobbie Meniers was crowned the winner with his catch of a carp weighing 4.5kg, and Jonathan Adams took home second prize with a carp weighing 2kg.

The club was started ± six months ago (before lockdown) and fished all over the Vaal and Bloemhof areas. The biggest fish determined the winner on September 26; however, winners for future competitions will be determined by the amount of fish caught.

All competitions are catch-and-release based.

Management team of the Alrapark Damduikers is Bobbie Meniers (chairman), Geronemo Lanford (treasurer), Dominic Magalhaes (coordinator). Lemoin Smith, Ronnie Smith, Jacob Smith, Delmaine Fred, Ennio Livino, Jonathan Adams and Bassie de Klerk all joined as members. “Membership is growing by the day,” said Magalhaes, who can be phoned on 062-745-0776 for more information on the club’s next planned outing.
