Police recover 3 bodies across various parts of Gauteng

They recovered the body of an unknown male by midday and availed to the detectives for further investigation.

Divers from the South African Police Service Gauteng Water Policing and Diving Services (WPDS) were deployed to three separate incidents between February 16 and 22 in Gauteng, which resulted in the recovery of two bodies.

On February 18, members of Sedibeng WPDS responded to a scene of a body floating in Klip River, Meyerton.

They recovered the body of an unknown male by midday and availed to the detectives for further investigation.

Members of Tshwane WPDS went to Olievenhoutbosch on Tuesday evening after a big storm hit parts of Gauteng.

A man was allegedly trapped in a river after struggling to reach the township. The WPDS received information that the man walked to safety after the water level subsided.

On February 21, Ekurhuleni WPDS members were deployed to Knights in Primrose, where they removed a badly decomposed body from a stream flowing through the mine and the informal settlement.

Inquest dockets for these cases are currently under investigation.

The police requested individuals with information regarding these incidents to contact the relevant SAPS station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

The WPDS members emphasised precautionary measures to avert needless loss of life. They advised individuals venturing into dams, rivers or waters for any activity to take heed of the risks involved.

Witnesses to water-related incidents are urged to provide multiple landmarks to pinpoint locations for immediate search and rescue efforts.
