Weekly crime stats report
The SAPS urge the community to report illegal and suspicious activities.
The local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between February 24 and March 2.
The stats have been shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1 (Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• Heidelberg: Truck hijacked on R550, February 26 at 17:30;
• Bergsig: Theft of motor vehicle on Gousblom Street. February 20 at 17:45.
Property involved: Toyota Hino truck and Audi S3.
Sector 2 (Boschfintein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Heidelberg CBD: Common robbery on Jordan Street. February 25 at 12:15.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft of motor vehicle on Strydom Street. February 28 at 09:30.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft of motor vehicle on Jacobs Street. February 28 at 18:00.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Attempted theft of motor vehicle on Albert Street. February 28 at 09:45.
• Boschhoek: Theft from motor vehicle in Boschhoek. February 25 at 16:00.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Theft general. Viljoen Street. February 26 at 21:00.
Property involved: Money, jewellery, cellphone, Toyota Fortuner and Quantum, Ford Courier LDV, truck wheels and a gate motor.
Sector 3 (Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• Rensburg: Attempted theft on JG Strydom Street. February 25 between 20:30 and 07:00.
• Heidelberg: Carjacking on N3 south. February 24 at 21:00.
• Heidelberg: Carjacking on N3 south. February 25 at 19:00.
• Steynskraal: Theft general and damage of essential infrastructure in Spruytsrus. February 28 at 17:50.
Property involved: Gate motor, Toyota Corolla, Mahindra and copper cable.
The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crimes in their areas. They can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported. This will also allow the police to focus on hotspots.
