7 suspects arrested in Ekurhuleni for drugs and unlicensed firearm

Seven suspects were arrested in Ekurhuleni after an EMPD operation uncovered an unlicensed firearm and illegal drugs worth R8000.

Seven suspects were arrested during an EMPD operation conducted between October 2 and 4 by the Drug Enforcement Unit, Intervention Unit and Community Liaison Unit.

The arrests followed information received about individuals allegedly selling illegal substances in the area.

During the operation, officers seized one unlicensed firearm and a range of narcotics, including 95 Ziplock bags of crystal meth, 16 Mandrax tablets, 14 Ziplock bags of cat, 25 Ziplock bags of heroin, and dagga.

The drugs have an estimated street value of over R8 000, according to a media statement released by EMPD.

The seven male suspects, aged between 32 and 54, were detained at their respective police stations.
