A joint operation by the Ratanda Anti-Crime Unit, Ratanda SAPS, and the Ratanda Initiation Forum on March 21 uncovered several abandoned and child-headed homes in the Silahliwe area of Obed Nkosi, Ratanda, being used as stash houses and drug dens.

During the operation, authorities discovered drug paraphernalia and found underage children smoking substances, highlighting the alarming scale of the problem.

Officials said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children and curb illegal activities in the community. Residents are being urged to report suspicious activity and ensure children are not left unsupervised.
