Family demands justice after Thabo Village murder case delayed again
The case has been moved to May 20, leaving relatives frustrated and demanding justice.
The family of slain Thabo Village mechanic, Banele Sibiya (30) say they are growing increasingly frustrated with repeated court delays and are demanding justice as the case against the woman accused of fatally stabbing him drags on.
The accused, facing a murder charge, first appeared in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on February 13, where she was granted bail of R500. She made her second appearance earlier this year, and on April 1, she appeared for the third time, with the matter now postponed to May 20.
Sibiya was allegedly stabbed to death at his home in Thabo Village on October 5, 2025. Family spokesperson Ntombikayise Sibiya expressed deep frustration over the repeated delays.
“We are extremely frustrated and heartbroken. We had hoped this would be the last court appearance so the case could finally move forward, but once again, it has been postponed. Each delay feels like a denial of justice for Banele, and it is taking a huge emotional toll on the family.
“We are tired of the endless waiting, tired of the uncertainty, and tired of seeing justice delayed. Banele’s life was cut short, and every day that passes without progress in this case is another day the family suffers. We want answers, we want accountability, and most importantly, we want closure. We will continue to demand justice for him until the end,” she said.
