Penalty shootouts send Batsumi Masters and Real Madrid to Ama Games final

Tense semi-final clashes at Extension 23 saw both matches decided on penalties, as Batsumi Masters and Real Madrid secured their places in the Ama Games Ka Bra Stina Masters Tournament final after a weekend of high-quality football.

The Ama Games Ka Bra Stina Masters Tournament delivered a weekend of thrilling football action, culminating in dramatic semi-final encounters decided by penalty shootouts at Extension 23 in Ratanda on May 2 and 3.

Following a series of competitive fixtures earlier in the tournament, the semi-finalists secured their places with strong performances. Madrid advanced with a narrow 1–0 victory over Inhliziyo, while Heidelberg FC produced an emphatic 4–1 win against Lizos. Big Nuz edged Abadlali 2–1, and Batsumi progressed after defeating DK Masters 1–0.

The semi-finals proved to be tightly contested affairs, with both matches ending goalless in regulation time.

The match was ultimately decided by penalties, where Batsumi Masters converted confidently to secure a 4–2 victory and advance to the final. The second semi-final saw Heidelberg FC take on Real Madrid in another evenly matched encounter.

Solid defensive displays and missed chances kept the score at 0–0 after full-time. In the ensuing penalty shootout, Real Madrid held their composure to claim a narrow 4–3 win and book their place in the final.

League Coordinator Elvis Mahlangu praised both the standard of play and the organisation of the event.

“The level of competition throughout the tournament has been exceptional. Teams have demonstrated discipline, respect, and a strong commitment to fair play. This is exactly what community football should represent, and it is encouraging to see such well-organised events contributing to the growth of the game at local level,” he said.

Tournament organisers confirmed that the winners will receive R5 000, while the runners-up will take home R1 800.

With Batsumi Masters set to face Real Madrid in the final, expectations are high for a fitting conclusion to what has been an exciting and well-contested tournament.
