Nigel Gymnastics celebrated an impressive showing at the Ekurhuleni District Qualifier, with 23 athletes earning Ekurhuleni colours and securing their places at the Gauteng Festival.

Nigel Gymnastics celebrated an outstanding performance at the annual Ekurhuleni District Qualifier held in Kempton Park on May 30, with the club’s athletes delivering a medal haul and securing widespread qualification for the next stage of competition.

Competing in Levels 1 to 3, 24 gymnasts represented Nigel Gymnastics against some of the district’s top young talent.

The club enjoyed a highly successful outing, with 23 of its 24 participants earning Ekurhuleni colours and qualifying to represent the district at the upcoming Gauteng Festival in June.

The athletes showcased their skill, discipline and dedication throughout the competition, collectively winning three gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Several gymnasts delivered standout performances, finishing among the top three in their respective levels.

Carlia Burger emerged as one of the stars of the competition, claiming first place and recording the highest average score in her level and age group on the day.

Other podium finishers included Miane Caldora, Alyssa Potgieter, Liezl Maritz and Lelanie Maritz, all of whom secured impressive second-place finishes in their respective categories.

The results underline the continued growth of gymnastics in Nigel and reflect the hard work invested by the athletes, coaches and parents throughout the season.

With the district qualifier now concluded, attention turns to the Gauteng Festival, where Nigel Gymnastics will have a strong representation among the Ekurhuleni squad.
