Police investigate

Six men are at large after they broke into a house in Kriel.

KRIEL – The local police are looking for six men in connection with a house robbery on 17 October.

The men allegedly entered the victim ’s house and restrained three occupants.

Some of the men kept watch over the family, while others ransacked the house.

The stolen items included a plasma television, cell phones, laptops, a Dstv decoder, a DVD player, a handbag with money inside and a BMW 1series vehicle.

The value of the items is valued at R380 000.

Police were dispatched to the house and chased after the suspects.

The BMW was recovered after the men overturned it.

The men are still at large.

W/O Emmarancia Kgosana of the Kriel Police encouraged the community to improve their safety and to make certain they activate their house alarms when they go to sleep.

She also said residents should reject stolen items, because by buying them, they are promoting the market for the perpetrators.

“Rather report stolen goods to the police if you see anyone carry suspected stolen items with them within the community.

“Receiving or buying stolen items is also punishable by law.”
