Pupils enjoy farewell function

eMBALENHLE – Osizweni Combined School hosted a function for the Grade 9 pupils at Graceland Casino.

It is the culture to a host farewell function annually for their pupils and to encourage them to put in more of an effort into their studies in the secondary school.

This year Osizweni Combined School designed special certificates for the pupils.

These had an inspiring message with photos of celebrities who went through difficulties in life and conquered them, such as Patrice Motsepe and the popular singer Lerato Molapo, known as Lira.

Ms A.S. Ortel, teacher, said: “The idea behind the design of the certificates was to inspire our pupils and to show them that it is possible to begin nowhere in life and end up somewhere like the celebrities and to show them that education is the key to a brighter future.

“The class of 2013 comprised 131 vibrant and hard working pupils, but obviously there are always those who drag their feet.

“I wish them all the best in their exams and hope they will follow the legacy left by our former pupils, some are now doctors and lawyers.

“I ask that they keep the flame of our school burning wherever they are going and we thank Mr Sijane who has sponsored the certificates.”

Pupils of Osizweni Combined School began writing their exams on 13 November.
