Rural areas enjoy books on wheels

The Library has also subscribed to the local newspapers in Ermelo for distribution in the rural villages where such services are scarce.

The Mobile Library Road Show from Ermelo Regional Library has been travelling to rural communities to help in remedying the scarce library and information services in those rural villages.

The Mobile Library provides library services in the form of books, pamphlets and brochures from institutions of higher learning and information services in the form of everyday information, such as career advertisements for the unemployed and those who have recently graduated from colleges and wish to enter internship programmes.

The Library has also subscribed to the local newspapers in Ermelo for distribution in the rural villages where such services are scarce.

Local newspapers are also working with this service in making sure that the required awareness is created especially for those who are geographically isolated from urban areas. The target is to reach most of the rural villages with educational books for life-long learning. The Mobile Library recently visited the Yellowstone Primary School at Emaswazini near Amsterdam.
