Teboho gets his golf “sticks”
Overwhelmed by the whole experience, Teboho could merely repeat the words “Thank you, thank you”.

Last week the Highvelder shared Jeffery Mochane’s story of forgiveness with the community.
Jeffery’s life changed when he lost a son two years ago, after a silly argument over a hat got out of hand and his son was stabbed.
Since then, Jeffery has become the peacekeeper and urged all those concerned to forgive, as friends, family and community members plotted revenge.
Jeffery’s wish was for his younger son, Teboho (16), to play golf, as he was concerned that the youngster had not yet processed the death of his brother and that he might still have thoughts of avenging his death.
Jeffery is a humble man and knowing that he cannot afford golf “sticks”, he speaks to his son often and encourages him to forgive.
All this changed on Thursday morning.
After the Highvelder hit the streets, it became clear that the community cares.
Mr André Nel, golf director at the Ermelo Golf Club, contacted the newspaper offices to say he had a set of golf clubs for Teboho.
Elated, Jeffery, Teboho and a reporter from the Highvelder made their way to the golf course and were welcomed there by André Nel and Estiaan Roos (PGA pro).
Jeffery could hardly contain his excitement when he realised that André had also included golf shirts, slacks, shoes and balls in his generous donation. Teboho could not stop taking “selfies” with his golf clubs on his mobile phone.
Overwhelmed by the whole experience, Teboho could merely repeat the words “Thank you, thank you”.
After a few words of advice and an exercise to practise at home, Estiaan also kindly offered Teboho his first golf lesson for free. On their way home, Teboho told the reporter that he will practise hard and really try his best not to disappoint Andre, Estiaan or his father and he promises to let the newspaper know when he plays in his first golf match.
Ermelo Golf Club invites learners to come and play on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when they can play free of charge.
Jeffery thanks André and Estiaan for making his dream for his son come true. They are also grateful to Mr Athol Stark who also called in and offered a new set of clubs.
When on the golf course on a Tuesday or Thursday, be on the lookout for Teboho and share a golf tip or two with him.
