Mbete visits GSDM
She sent a warning to young people who join the organisation, looking for positions or tenders.

National Chairman of the ruling party (ANC), Ms Baleka Mbete, visited the Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) last week.
According to the ANC Regional Secretary Mr Muzi Chirwa, Ms Mbete’s visit was part of a scheduled and ongoing programme where the ANC leadership touches base with the people.
Some of the places Ms Mbete visited include Breyten where she met with religious leaders. In that meeting, most of the religious leaders complained about a lack of sites to build churches, outstanding title deeds for most community members and slow or non-existent progress in Breyten and KwaZanele. Pastor Mandla “Spix” Nkambule requested that moral regeneration seminars be held regularly, rather than once a year.
The Chrissiesmeer community braved the bad weather to welcome Ms Mbete to a public participation meeting in the Chrissiesmeer Hall that was filled to capacity. They had a chance to voice their frustrations, ranging from poor water supply, councillors not doing their jobs, lack of job opportunities and alleged corruption with RDP houses.
Ms Mbete’s delegation promised to return in two weeks to attend to some of the issues that arose from the meeting. She sent a warning to young people who join the organisation, looking for positions or tenders. She also highlighted her concern with some of the community development workers (CDW) who do not do what is expected of them.
Ms Mbete and her delegation also visited Elukwatini where she met with business people, held another public participation meeting and attended a church service.
Ms Mbete also visited Silobela, Carolina.
