Support the Lilly Project for animals in distress

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged in the way that its animals are treated - Mahatma Gandhi.

Lilly, one of four puppies thrown over the fence at the EARS kennels one weekend and left to fend for themselves, was the only pup to survive the ordeal.

With lots of love and care the injured pup was looked after by EARS.

A few weeks ago life changed for Lilly and a Jack Russell named Trixie, when they were both adopted by the Marais family from Ermelo.

According to Lilly’s new owner, Louis, Lilly weighed a mere 2kg when she arrived at their home and she could barely walk five steps at a time. She could hardly stand up.

A week after they joined their new family, Trixie has made herself at home and it seems as if she has been ruling the Marais-roost for many years.

Lilly has picked up a kilogram, nearly half her body weight, and is getting stronger by the day.

Lilly’s a great ambassador for the unselfish service that EARS renders to the community and represents every animal in the care of EARS.

She will be the face of the Lilly Project.

The Highvelder and EARS launched the Lilly Project last week with the aim to encourage the community to open their hearts by pledging a monthly contribution to EARS.

The Highvelder team have made their pledge and challenge businesses, entities and the community to follow suit.

SAVF employees have already taken up the challenge to make their monthly contributions.

Without the help of the community, dogs like Lilly will not be able to survive.

Sign a monthly debit order today to help an animal in need.

R20 to R50 a month will help EARS to help animals in distress.

EARS banking details are as follow: EARS Ermelo, Nedbank Ermelo, account number 151 610 3122, branch code 151 644.

For those who would rather make a monthly cash donation, contact Ronél, chairman EARS, at 083 400 1079 or 083 976 7113 to arrange for monies to be collected.

Blankets and dog food are always in great demand. Contact Ronél for more information.

Blankets and food donations can also be dropped off at the Highvelder offices in Murray Street, but no money will be accepted there.
