Neighbour charged with attempted rape
The woman grabbed hold of a fork and stabbed her attacker in the chest.
A woman living in Wesselton (Ermelo) has laid a charge of attempted rape against a man believed to be a neighbour.
Police spokesman for Ermelo, Capt Carla Prinsloo, said the complainant was asleep in her home at about 03:30 on Sunday when she was awakened by the sound of breaking glass.
She then saw a man she recognised as her neighbour had entered the room.
The intruder then allegedly began fondling her against her wishes and attempted to force her onto the bed.
The woman managed to grab hold of a fork and stabbed her attacker in the chest before managing to escape.
Police are investigating a case of attempted rape.
