Sgt Kunene calls it a day

"Thanks to the police, today I have a home, family and achieved a lot"

After 11 years of service, Sgt Lucky Bhekukuthula Kunene has called it a day at the South African Police Services to pursue private interests.

Bidding farewell to his colleagues at the Chrissiesmeer Station, Sgt Kunene said he was thankful for the time he spent in the service, the experience gained and the support from the Station Commander, Capt. A.S. Mlangeni.

He said he would also miss working with the police family for the community of Chrissiesmeer and KwaChibikhulu.
Sgt Kunene said he was from a poor background and would easily have slipped into a miserable life in his youth had it not been for an opportunity in the police service. He said the SA Police Force had given him direction in life.

“Thanks to the police, today I have a home, family and achieved a lot. I had a wonderful relationship with the community and enjoyed the trust and respect from the people, including the farming community.”

Chrissiesmeer Station Commander Capt Mlangeni expressed his regret in losing a gem like Sgt Kunene, but wished him well with his future commitments.

“I have had the joy of working with a selfless, dedicated and honest officer in Sgt. Kunenene. I have found and come across few officers of his calibre in my career. I have no doubt he will succeed wherever he’s going, because of his positive attitude,”said Capt Mlangeni.
