SASSA warns against spending
The department reminded parents and caregivers that the priority should be education and not entertainment.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga has warned parents and caregivers to use the Child Support Grant (CSG) wisely, responsibly and save for next year’s academic year.
The department also encouraged parents and caregivers to avoid the temptation of spending money on unnecessary and non-basic requirements. Parents are also reminded that the purpose of the CSG is to meet the needs of the children and must not be misused.
The department reminded parents and caregivers that priority should be education and not entertainment.
In a statement, SASSA said January is normally known as a financially strained month and therefore parents and caregivers should meet the government halfway by acting responsibly.
