Pharmacists from across the province gathered at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium

Pharmacists from across the province gathered to participate in friendly games to end off National Pharmacy Month, which is September.

Pharmacists from across the province gathered at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium last Wednesday to participate in friendly games to end off National Pharmacy Month, which is September.

The pharmacy profession’s annual awareness drive was elevated to new heights this year when it was announced that the extension of National Pharmacy Week will be a full month, beginning this year.

Pharmacists use the month to promote pharmacy services and visibly demonstrate the significant role the profession plays in the healthcare sector with the theme this year being “Don’t Wait – Vaccinate”.

Pharmacists were encouraged to promote the importance of vaccinations in safeguarding the health of the country as a whole as they provide immunity from many infectious diseases and help prevent the spread of serious diseases, some of which can have fatal consequences.

Teams from the Gert Sibande and Nkangala districts battled it out in various sporting codes, including soccer, netball and a relay.

Gert Sibande took the winner’s medal in the soccer while Nkangala took the netball prize.
