False message about Eskom do the rounds

According to the message, delays in making a public announcement is because of concerns by the ANC to create panic.

Spokesman of Eskom, Ms Juanita Vogel, urged residents not to spread a false message stating that an anonymous Eskom employee informed people that only one unit is running at the Kusile power station.

According to the message, delays in making a public announcement is because of concerns by the ANC to create panic.

The message further states that this makes it a high possibility that next weekend there will be a worst case grid shutdown, or alternatively, more severe loadshedding.

The admins of the message urged residents to prepare for the coming weekend by gathering candles, gas, water, cash, food, and petrol and to test their backup generators and charge their portable devices.

Ms Vogel said this information about Eskom is not true and asked residents not to distribute the message further.
