A 41-year-old man, Mr Dumisani Shabangu was found guilty on 4 June at the Breyten High Court for the murder of his girlfriend, Ms Sphiwe Ntombela (32).
He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and received five years for defeating the ends of justice.
According to Const Portia Dhladhla, spokesman for Davel Police, the incident took place on 12 June 2018.
Davel Police received a complaint from Bethal Provincial Hospital about a woman that was run over by a vehicle.
After the thorough investigation of the investigation officer, Mr Sipho Ndlovu, Shabangu was arrested.
Capt Lawrence Thipe, station commander of Davel Police, said: “We appreciate the hard work of the investigating officer.”
