Police officers’ hunch during stop-and-search near Lothair leads to dagga discovery worth R29 000

Const Bathobile Khumalo, spokesman for Lothair Police, said: “The investigated the wires under the vehicle and found two bags wrapped with brown tape, filled with dagga.”

Lothair Police arrested three suspects after finding dagga of about R29 000 in their possession on 10 July.

Sgt Patric Zulu and Const Nkosinathi Hleza were conducting a stop-and-search operation on the road between Carolina and Amsterdam when they stopped the bakkie.

They requested to search the vehicle and noticed wires hanging from underneath.

The suspects, aged between 26 and 40 appeared in Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on 11 July.
