Enough is enough says SANCO during march to Gert Sibande District Municipality in Ermelo

Aggrieved residents listed their demands to the municipality and called for corruption and nepotism to be ceased.

A sea of yellow SANCO T-shirts could be seen in Ermelo’s streets as the community and members of SANCO, marched to the Gert Sibande District Municipality to hand over a memorandum today, 13 September.

Numerous protesters had placards on display and called for the removal of the executive mayor, Mr Muzi Chirwa.

Police guarded the gate at the Gert Sibande District Municipality and ensured the safety of all who participated in the protest.

According to information in the memorandum, the community state that money allocated to the district from national and provincial government should be used to expedite service delivery, however, year after year poor service delivery is ‘dished-out’ to the poorest of the poor in this district municipality.

They also called for investigations into alleged fraudulent tender allocations and all Integrated Development Plan (IDP) projects.
