UPDATE- Residents comment on poor road construction in Wesselton

The sewer line was not fixed before the construction of the road.

The Highvelder published an article on our website, “Residents discontent with Motau and Tutu Street construction”  on 13 October.

Residents of ward 17 in Wesselton, were disgruntled about poor road conditions after a recent reconstruction of the road.

According to a resident, who wants to remain anonymous, at first it was a relief to hear money was set aside for the construction of the Motau and Tutu Street as we have been struggling with muddy roads.

She added, an overflowing sewer on a gravel road also added to the problem.

The sewer line was not fixed before the construction of the road.

The Highvelder sent media inquiries to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman from Msukaligwa Municipality.

Mr Zwane said, “The scope of work was only for the construction of road.”

He added, the municipality appeals to the community to report sewer spills to the municipal call centre in order for technicians to attend to it promptly.
