Safety of learners at Swelihle Primary School threatened due to poor infrastructure

Parents escalated matters to the Department of Education (offices in Ermelo) and await a response.

Parents raised their concerns about the safety of their children due to poor infrastructure at Swelihle Primary School on 21 February near Sheepmoore.

The ceiling is falling apart, electrical wiring drape loosely from the ceilings in class rooms and toilets are in horrid conditions as it is not being maintained.

According to a parent, the school has been deteriorating since 2015.

They have sent their concerns to the circuit offices in Amsterdam but, have not received any response.

Parents escalated matters to the Department of Education (offices in Ermelo) and await a response.

The Highvelder sent media inquiries to Mr Jasper Zwane, provincial head of communications for the Department of Education.
