Capt Carla Prinsloo, the spokesman for the Ermelo Police, issued a stark warning to all people contemplating travelling over the Easter weekend.
According to her, multiple essential businesses will close their doors over the Easter-period.
Police have acquired information that some employees who live in different provinces, are considering going home for the weekend.
She issued a stark warning that police will not allow any inter-provincial travel nor any non-essential travel.
Travelling between towns and/or cities to visit relatives/friends is not permitted.
“There will be several police checkpoints set-up countrywide to ensure people comply with the regulations as stipulated in the Disaster Management Act.
“This is not the time to be sneaking away on a holiday, visiting families or friends or needlessly driving around without any reasonable grounds.”
“People should please adhere to these regulations, compliance is crucial to avoid the spread of Covid-19.”
According to her, the only exceptions will be for essential-travel as well as funerals.
