ERMELO – Ms Thuli Mpanza (36), a safety specialist working for Transnet, will represent Mpumalanga as a finalist in the Miss Bachelorette South Africa pageant.
This competition is aimed at unmarried, independent women between 25 and 50, and also at empowering women and young girls into seeing the importance of being emotionally and financially independent while taking a stance against gender-based violence.
Ms Mpanza is a single mother who grew up in a rural area of KwaZulu-Natal.
She has been living in Ermelo for over a decade now.
“I started modelling at the age of 15 and have won Miss uKhozi FM Mpumalanga and Miss TUT back in the day,” she said.
According to her, she also tried competing in Miss South Africa, but unfortunately did not make the cut.

This didn’t put a damper on her love for pageants and modelling and she continued to so in Johannesburg.
She decided to enter Miss Bachelorette South Africa, not only because of her love for pageantry and modelling, but also because of how different it is to other competitions.
“I love what this pageant stands for; uplifting and empowering women and young girls into embracing themselves and being independent in their own space,” she said.
