Residents in Ermelo mourn the death of Arthur Hill

His children described him as a man of his word who loved working with his hands. From fixing and upgrading old cars or appliances and even building new things, he never shied away from keeping his hands busy.

ERMELO – The family and friends of Mr Arthur Clarence Hill were shattered by his sudden death at age 55.

Mr Hill completed his school career in Brakpan. Shortly after school, he joined the military force at Atlas before furthering his education in specialised welding.

His children described him as a man of his word who loved working with his hands. From fixing and upgrading old cars or appliances and even building new things, he never shied away from keeping his hands busy.

His smile, hugs and words of wisdom are just some of the things his children will cherish forever.

Despite of Mr Hill’s strong and hard-looking appearance, he was described as a soft-hearted, kind and caring man.

According to TJ Hill, his father always taught him not to make any promises, as a man’s word must be a promise itself.

“I will always remember when he used to take me to Game every Sunday to browse the products we did not need or buy, and just to walk around and spend time together,” TJ told Highvelder.

“Dad was a down-to-earth guy who always got along with everybody,” one of his daughters, Ms Samantha Janse van Vuuren, said.
