CAMDEN – Eskom Camden Power Station and various local business celebrated Mandela Day by donating items to the Misokuhle Old Age Home in Suncity and Camden Combined School on July 18 and 22.

The elders received 50 blankets, gardening equipment, including wheelbarrows, forks, spades, rakes and watering cans, and vegetable seedlings.

They were also given physical checkups in a mobile clinic from the Department of Health, and had blood pressure screenings, temperature screenings, glucose tests and primary healthcare services, which is the treatment of minor ailments.

According to Camden Power Station’s representative, Justice Bore, their team supports the 2022 Mandela Day theme, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

He also urged residents to try their best to use the resources they have at their disposal to better their lives, and reminded the learners about the importance of respecting their elders and having self-discipline.

“Heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the businesses who contributed to make this day a success. It is our responsibility as Eskom to improve the quality of lives in the community in which we live,” Bore said.
