Truck chaos returns to Havenga Street as road conditions worsen
Trucks crawled at a snail’s pace through Ermelo's damaged Havenga Street as worsening conditions sparked fresh frustration and long traffic delays.
ERMELO – A familiar scene unfolded once again on Havenga Street on Friday, July 4, as a massive influx of trucks led to serious traffic congestion stretching back several kilometres.
Truck drivers found themselves stuck in near-stationary queues that snaked from Fourie Street, down Oos Street, and into Havenga Street, where the bad road surface slowed the heavy vehicles to a crawl.
By mid-morning, frustrated drivers could do little but wait, as truck after truck edged forward across a badly damaged stretch of road.
