ACSU apprehends man for alleged drug smuggling into Piet Retief Community Corrections

It is alleged the suspect was attempting to smuggle drugs in Piet Retief Community Corrections through the fence.

MKHONDO – Acsu reaction officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a suspicious man making an exchange with inmates in the Piet Retief Community Corrections through a fence on August 30.

According to the officers, the suspect was allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into the premises through the fence.

Upon stopping in an attempt to investigate the situation, the suspect fled the scene.

Acsu officers went after him and caught the suspect who took out a knife and attempted to stab them.

According to Theo Craven, control room operator for Acsu and district manager for the South African Community Crime Watch Gert Sibande Region, necessary force was used to apprehend the suspect and police members were alerted about the incident.

“The reaction officers transported and handed over the suspect to the police,” Craven said.

Investigation in the case continues.
