Carolina police seize illegal firearm, 4 in custody

The confiscated firearms will undergo ballistic testing to determine if they have been used in any prior criminal activity.

CAROLINA – The Carolina police arrested four men, aged between 24 and 34, on March 4, after they were found to be in possession of an illegal firearm and some ammunition.

According to Sergeant Thabang Mokwana, the police’s spokesperson, the police received information regarding a suspicious Toyota Yaris with four occupants travelling on the R36 towards Carolina at about 13:30.

The SAPS intercepted the vehicle, and upon stopping, the suspects immediately exited it.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed an unlicensed 9mm pistol with four live rounds of ammunition.

The firearm’s serial number had been filed off.

All four occupants were immediately arrested and charged with unlawful possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
