Woman robbed after accepting lift near Ermelo dump site

A friendly lift turned into a nightmare. A woman robbed at gunpoint, abandoned near Ermelo's dump site

ERMELO – A 22-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint after accepting a lift near the dump site on March 19.

According to Captain Carla Prinsloo, the Ermelo police’s spokesperson, the incident occurred at about 11:00.

Prinsloo said a Hyundai vehicle with three occupants offered the woman a lift.

However, instead of proceeding to her intended destination, the vehicle turned off of the N11 onto a road leading to the local dumping site.

They stopped the vehicle and one of the occupants pointed a firearm at her and demanded her money and cell phone.

After seizing her belongings, the suspects abandoned the woman at the scene and fled in the Hyundai.

The police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in their investigation.

They are urged to contact Lieutenant Colonel Schalk Pearson on 082 373 8389.
