Police arrest six suspects after series of business robberies

Six suspects, aged between 18-22 were arrested after a string of business robberies in Amersfoort.

AMERSFOORT – Six suspects, aged between 18 and 22, were apprehended by the police on March 13, following a series of business robberies in the area.

The arrests stemmed from the investigations into robberies that occurred on February 17.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the provincial police spokesperson, the suspects gained access to three shops in the Ezamokuhle China 2 section by entering through the roof of the premises. Items stolen included cartons of cigarettes, an undisclosed amount of money and a Samsung cellphone valued at R3 200.

The successful operation was the result of a co-ordinated effort between the investigation team and Vispol members.

A raid was conducted on a property in eMbalenhle, when four men were initially detained.

Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects.
