Suspect arrested after brutal Hendrina farm attack
Police officers apprehended the man, who was found in possession of property belonging to the deceased.
HENDRINA – The police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a brutal farm attack that took place on a farm outside the town between November 28 and 29, 2024.
The suspect faces charges of murder, rape, and kidnapping.
According to information at the police’s disposal, a suspect accessed the premises and fatally attacked the complainant’s son (46).
The suspect then allegedly raped the deceased’s 80-year-old mother inside a vehicle on the property.
The man also forced the deceased’s father into the boot of a car and left him there.
He later used one of the victims’ bank cards to withdraw R5 000 at a petrol station in Bethal.
“The suspect was reportedly driving the complainant’s vehicle, which he later abandoned in eMbalenhle, leaving the rape victim inside after noticing a passing police vehicle,” Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the provincial police spokesperson, said.
The arrest occurred at approximately 21:30 on June 11, in the Marikana section of eMbalenhle, near Secunda.
The police acted on a tip-off regarding the whereabouts of the suspect.
Upon their arrival at the given address, officers apprehended the man who was found in possession of property belonging to the deceased.
The suspect appeared in the Hendrina Magistrate’s Court on June 13.
