CAROLINA – Residents of Silobela recently experienced a widespread electricity outage following cable theft and vandalism that severely damaged the area’s electrical infrastructure on July 4.
The municipality has strongly condemned this destructive act, which was discovered by its technical services team.
The team accessed the extent of the damage and initiate repairs.
During the repairs the municipality warned affected residents to treat all electrical wiring as live and to switch off all appliances to prevent injuries or damage when power is eventually restored.
These criminal acts of vandalism and cable theft inflict substantial financial losses on the municipality, directly impeding service delivery progress within the community.
The municipality appealed to all community members to assist in safeguarding crucial infrastructure to prevent future occurrences.
