Police arrest three men linked to Muzi Manyathi’s murder after months of intensive investigation.

EMKHONDO – Police have made a significant breakthrough in the murder of Muzi Manyathi (41), a prominent political figure and proportional representation (PR) councillor for the Mkhondo Municipality in Gert Sibande.

Three suspects, aged between 32 and 36, were located and charged on July 10. They appeared in the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court the same day.

The case was postponed to September 22 for further investigation, and the accused remains in custody.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli said an identity parade is still to be conducted.

As a result, the suspects’ names will be withheld until that process has been finalised.

Manyathi was shot and killed at a fuel station at around 18:30 on Friday, November 4, 2022.
