Neighbour jailed for life for raping 10-year-old girl in Davel

A 37-year-old man from KwaDela, Davel has been sentenced to life in prison for the rape of a 10-year-old girl.
The crime took place on June 19, 2021, when the victim was walking home from a tuck shop.
The man, who was her neighbor, grabbed her, dragged her to the roadside, and raped her.
He then threatened to unleash his dogs on her if she reported the assault.
The girl’s aunt became suspicious when she noticed the child was distressed and struggling to walk.
After the girl revealed what had happened and identified her attacker, she was taken to the Ermelo Thuthuzela Care Centre, which led to the man’s arrest.
