Ermelo woman arrested after dismembered body found in bags

Police discovered dismembered body parts in a plastic bag, while others were inside a maize meal bag.

ERMELO – A 33-year-old woman has been arrested following a shocking incident in Wesselton,  where a 37-year-old man was found dead.

Ermelo police were dispatched to a call at a home in Ext 2 on August 11.

Upon their arrival, they discovered dismembered body parts in a plastic bag, while others were inside a maize meal bag.

Preliminary investigations suggest that an argument between the woman and the victim ensued, and the victim was stabbed to death.

The suspect is facing charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.

She is expected to appear at the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on August 14.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, expressed his appreciation to the one who reported the matter to the police.

Mkhwanazi has further expressed his concern over murders that are reportedly perpetuated mostly by people who are either in a relationship or known to the family members.

“When the time comes for the release of crime statistics, we often experience that cases of murder are committed by people that are close to each other. This is where we urge communities to work collaborate with us to prevent similar incidents, ” said Mkhwanazi.
