Man arrested with dagga worth R90 000 on N17

Upon searching the vehicle, police found 30kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R90 000.

ERMELO – As part of the ongoing Operation Safer Festive Season, the police arrested Sabelo Terrence Ndzabukelwako (36) from the Kingdom of Eswatini after finding a large amount of dagga in his car on December 7.

The arrest happened during a stop-and-search operation on the N17 (Oshoek Road) between Ermelo and Chrissiesmeer, where his vehicle was stopped.

Upon searching the vehicle, police found 30kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R90 000.

Ndzabukelwako was arrested and charged with possession of dagga.

He appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on December 8, and was granted R2 000 bail. The case was postponed to February 25.

The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the members involved in the operation for their hard work and dedication.

“We are pleased with the success of this operation and the efforts of our members in preventing and combatting crime. We urge all members of the community to report any information about drug dealing or other crimes to the police, and to work with us to create a safer and more secure environment for all individuals, particularly during the festive season,” Mkhwanazi said.
