Gert Sibande District Municipality warns public of tender and job scams

Residents and businesses are urged to stay alert after reports of tender and job scams involving fake GSDM officials.

ERMELO – The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) has issued a public warning following a rise in fraud and impersonation cases involving individuals falsely claiming to represent senior municipal officials.

According to its spokesperson, Bongi Ka Dube, reports have been received of scammers contacting members of the public, service providers and job seekers, demanding payments in exchange for promises of tenders, employment opportunities or the fast-tracking of municipal processes.

“These fraudulent communications may appear legitimate and may include official-looking documents, contact details or messages,” Ka Dube said in a statement. “However, they are not authorised by GSDM.”
