The team consisted of several specialised units, including the Ermelo Highway Patrol, Task Team, and K9 units from both Ermelo and Standerton.

Police arrested four men, aged between 34 and 43.

During the raid, officers seized various drugs including 16 pieces of rock cocaine, 12 sachets of nyaope, four mandrax tablets, three sachets of crystal methamphetamine and approximately 5kg of dagga.

In a statement, SAPS said the total street value of the haul is estimated at R9 000.

The four suspects are expected to appear in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on February 23.

In a separate incident on the same day, police in Mahamba intercepted a truck travelling along the N2 from Pongola toward Piet Retief.

Intelligence suggested the vehicle was being used to transport drugs.

Upon searching the truck, officers discovered a 41-year-old man, an Eswatini national , in possession of approximately 3kg of dagga hidden in a blue bag.

He was arrested and charged with dealing in dagga.

“The SAPS remains resolute in dismantling drug trafficking networks and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice. The public is encouraged to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by reporting criminal activities through established reporting channels,” said the acting Mpumalanga police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi.
