DA claims all seven waste water systems in Msukaligwa are in a critical state

Seven municipalities in the province had a score of less than 30% according to the Green Drop report for 2022.

Due to Mpumalanga Local Municipalities’ poor provision of proper wastewater and sewage disposal, the DA has requested the Green Scorpions’ intervention.

Because of the municipality’s failure to take action, residents are exposed to an environment that may be harmful to their health.

In the most recent Green Drop assessment for Mpumalanga, it was found that just six out of the 76 wastewater systems in the province were functioning well above capacity, and that 43% of wastewater systems were judged to be in a critical state.

“It is completely unacceptable given the constant land and freshwater pollution in municipalities such as Lekwa, Thaba Chweu, Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme and Msukaligwa,” Trudie Grovè-Morgan, DA Spokesperson on CoGTA and MPL said.

Msukaligwa is at 17%, with all seven waste water systems reportedly in critical state.

Highvelder has sent questions to the spokesperson of the municipality, Mandla Zwane, and awaits a response.
