VIDEO – EFF protesters gathered in Ermelo – no disruptions reported yet

Police say they have now arrested 87 protesters across the country for public violence related offences. 

A group of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) protesters embarked on the national shutdown protest in Ermelo.

The group gathered at the intersection of Joubert and Kerk Streets, before moving towards the Ermelo Mall.

They are currently moving through town.

At the moment all is calm with a high police presence observing the protest.

Police say they have now arrested 87 protesters across the country for public violence-related offenses.

More than 24 000 tires have been confiscated by police.
